KOÜSİM has been prepared in a virtual hospital setup in a closed area of 1151 square meters in the new outpatient clinic building of Kocaeli University Hospital. The center includes a three-bed emergency department, ambulance and accident/home environment, maternity ward and neonatal area, two-bed adult and two-bed pediatric wards, a clinical skills laboratory, a three-dimensional (3D) virtual anatomy classroom, a virtual reality (VR) room, and eight simulated student outpatient clinics, and basic skills lab. The staff of the center consists of an anesthesia specialist medical educator, a nurse instructor, a biomedical engineer, and an anesthesia technician. The center also features high-fidelity emergency patient and nursing simulators, pediatric simulators, childbirth simulators, and all the necessary medical devices and equipment for emergency departments, ambulances, and wards, as well as a wide variety of skill models. Another important infrastructure of the center is a comprehensive education software and recording system that supports various measurement and evaluation capabilities, with the ability to remotely control simulators, and the ability to record high-quality audio and video in all simulated environments.

KOÜSİM offers a variety of training programs that span from the first year of medical education through graduation and into post-graduate studies. High-fidelity emergency service simulations for interns, pediatric resuscitation, neonatal resuscitation, advanced and basic life support training for interns, cardiac and respiratory examination practices, and simulation applications of basic medical skills specified in the National Core Education Program are included in our training programs. In addition, our center conducts objective structured clinical examinations (OSCE) and objective structured practical examinations (OSPE) preferred in pre-graduation medical education. Communication skills training sessions are conducted with simulated patients (SP). In addition, our center continues to offer courses organized by specialist physician associations as part of post-graduate medical education.
