SESAM Sim University is an opportunity for teams of undergraduate healthcare students (preferably teams of four, interprofessional) to compete against each other by taking part in simulation scenarios. Scenarios mirror basic emergency situations (resuscitation, anaphylaxis, myocardial infarction) reflecting the students’ level of knowledge/skills.

After each scenario, students are debriefed by expert facilitators, with a focus on promoting non-technical skills such as leadership, situational awareness, decision making, communication, and assertiveness, in addition to clinical reasoning within a team. Remote, online heats are conducted early in the year, with successful teams being invited to the finals at the Annual Meeting of SESAM, which in 2026 will be held in Lyon.

This SESAM initiative invites teams of four members to compete in various simulation-based modalities, blending clinical challenges, hands-on experience and teamwork.

We start with virtual preliminaries in January 2026 and - if you qualify - head to Lyon, France, for the thrilling live finals during the SESAM Annual Meeting in June 2025. See programme here.
