Centro de Simulação Clínica da Madeira (CSCM) is a Clinical Simulation Center in Madeira Island, Portugal.
Integrated in the Regional Health Service SESARAM - Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça, this center combines the experience of Pre-Hospital, Primary and Hospital Health Care. It also works in partnership with the Faculty of Medicine and Nursing in Madeira University, the School of Nursing, the Department of Education and the Community, assuming itself as a strong aggregating element of biomedical education in the context of pre and post-graduate training. This Center develops pedagogical, scientific and technological activities in the field of medical and biomedical sciences, using clinical simulation.
CSCM enhances continuous clinical training and training of technical and non-technical skills for students, professionals and health multidisciplinary teams, contributing to the improvement of quality care and the safety of patients and professionals.
CSCM provides several Simulation-based Learning Activities (skills training, full scale simulation, virtual reality simulation, simulated patients and in situ training) in anesthesiology, internal medicine, gynecology-obstetrics, cardiology, pediatrics, neonatology, general surgery, intensive care, nursing, trauma, emergency and catastrophe and pre-hospital emergency. Others medical specialities are joining this training tool.
Opened in 2012, CSCM is a 300 m2 center constituted by:
- Facilities - Reception, Meeting Room, Debriefing Room, 5 Training Rooms (Multitrauma Room, Operating Room, Procedures Room, Nursing Room, Disinfection Room), 3 Control Rooms, Storage Room, Cup, Women's and men's Changing Rooms.
- Equipment: 5 high fidelity adult mannequins, 1 junior mannequin, 1 baby mannequin and several low fidelity mannequins (airway, vascular access, chest drain, gynecological examination and obstetric maneuvers, etc), LapVR surgical simulator and Endo Trainer for laparoscopy training.
- Learning space system is available in the entire center.
