The University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) Skills Center is the central hub for simulation training in the Northern regions of the Netherlands. It is part of the Wenckebach Institute for Education and Training (WIOO), and home to the Wenckebach Simulation Center for Training, Education & Research (WEBSTER).

State of the art training facility

Our extensive training facility features a broad  full spectrum of simulation solutions for any type of training. From surgical and other technical skills, to teams, leadership and CRM, we provide the right tools and environments to help you reach your learning goals. Effectively, efficiently, and safely. Our simulated ORs, ICUs, general wards, scrub rooms and classrooms are equipped with AV streaming and recording capabilities to further expand your reach and to augment debriefing. Our simulation fleet is designed with modularity and portability in mind, to enable tailored solutions for in-situ or near-situ training.  Are you new to simulation, or do you want to make the next step in quality improvement? We can assist you with technical and didactic support to finely tune the design, complexity, and scheduling of your training to your needs.

Simulation lab for research and innovation

The Wenckebach Skills Center aims to provide a high-tech playground where simulation experts, nurses, physicians, engineers, researchers, and educational specialists are free to explore the future of simulation together. Our shared goal is to better understand the everyday variations in human performance, through observation and experimentation. We believe that research based simulation and simulation based research are essential in this mission to further strengthen quality of care both locally and globally. Although these efforts far exceed the walls of the Skills Center, they always adhere to the same core principles of safe and effective learning.

We welcome opportunities to learn from others within SESAM, and share our knowledge. We look forward to welcoming you in Groningen!
