The Biomedical Simulation Centre of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (CSB-FMUP) opened in December 2003, being a pioneer centre in Portugal.

Its mission is to create a unique, safe and sustainable educational environment providing experiential training to students, residents and healthcare professionals on Technical skills, Behaviour, Decision making, Teamwork, and Clinical communication. 

Since its opening, BSC-FMUP has trained more than 5500 medical students and 1500 healthcare professionals in several areas: Physiology, Semiology, Pharmacology, Urology, Obstetrics, Neonatology, Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, Clinical communication, and Crisis resource management, among others.

It has had credited training for instructors in clinical simulation since 2014.
