WHO Global Patient Safety Action Plan |
|||||||
![]()
SESAM is supporting the World Health Organisation (WHO) in a crucial research project exploring simulation to enhance safety within healthcare environments in alignment with the WHO Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021-2030. The research team includes Gustavo Norte, Cristina Diaz Navarro, Peter Dieckmann, Doris Østergaard, Nurshaim Tileanbaeva, Sigrun Qvinsdesland, Méryl Paquay, Marta Ortega Vega and Pedro Cartaxo, among others. This project highlights the broad range of approaches that comprise the world of simulation, which helps healthcare professionals learn and improve. It remarks its vital role in fostering patient safety, optimising healthcare processes, and improving patient outcomes by reducing errors, mortality, and morbidity. The final goal of the project is to develop recommendations for the use of simulation as a powerful tool for making healthcare systems safer and more efficient. This will provide guidance as we continue to integrate simulation in our healthcare systems, and help our simulation community in securing political and financial support locally and nationally in our respective contexts. The initiative includes a study aiming to understand how simulation is currently used to enhance patient safety across the WHO European Region Member States. Your perspectives are invaluable to this study.
